Paris Bishop concerned over Kashmir rights situation
Srinagar,
June 26, 2007 (Kashmir Newz Desk) :
The bishop of Paris Monseigneur Andre Dupleix in an interaction with moderate faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today said that the relationship between Muslims and Christians was essential and Kashmir, Palestine and Iraq need to be settled at the earliest for lasting peace.
Mirwaiz today met the leaders of the Christian and Muslim faith at French capital Paris including the bishop of Paris Monseigneur Andre Dupleix and Islamic leader Dr. Djelloul Seddiki.
In his interaction with the Mirwaiz, Bishop Dupleix said that he was concerned over the human rights violations in Kashmir and added that all violations of human rights need to come to an end.
He also said that no military solution can be imposed on Kashmir, Palestine and Iraq and added that the people’s aspirations need to be addressed.
Bishop Dupleix said that the Muslims in general have a wrong perception that Christians are against them “but the fact is only some governments with wrong policies did not represent Christians around the world”.
He said France has a population of 5 million Muslims out of a total 60 million and all are living in communal harmony.
