Kashmir separatist proposes joint fight against India
Srinagar, January 07, 2008:
Proposing a joint fight against India, senior Kashmiri separatist Shabir Shah today asked separatist groups in Indian administered Kashmir to carry their “struggle” from the platform of All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
He also advocated the institutionalisation of Kashmiri separatist groups on the lines of Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
Addressing a press conference in the summer capital Srinagar after more than three years, Shah said, “Success has eluded us because our movement is not institutionalised.”
The chief of Democratic Freedom Party, Shah, expected to join the moderate faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, proposed six points to separatist groups.
The proposal, calls for every separatist group to stop its individual party activities and engulf in the Hurriyat conference, besides suspending working committees.
Shah said that Hurriyat Conference will emerge as the single separatist party with offices right from Tehsil to Provincial level.
Stating that a unified struggle against India will “surely be benefited”, Shah advocated the inclusion of guerrilla alliance United Jehad Council.
“It is these Mujahideen who have internationalised Kashmir cause and they have a bigger role to play,” Shah said.
He said that like Hamas, the Hurriyat should have a complete top to down institution.
Calling the pro-India parties as Indian agents “sabotaging the movement”, Shah said, “These parties are using the slogans of separatist parties like demilitarisation, human rights violations and Kashmir solution, to exploit people.”
Shah’s six point proposal
1) Every party will suspend its party activities and unite in the single Hurriyat conference.
2) This new Hurriyat conference will work according to its 1993 constitution, that will advocate right to self determination and tri-partite talks.
3) No solution acceptable under Indian constitution. And those who are working for the cause of Kashmir in Azad Kashmir (Pakistan administered Kashmir), Pakistan or any other country will have come under Hurriyat Conference. No separatist party in Pakistan will be allowed to champion the cause of any political party in that country.
4) Every party will have to close their offices right from Halqa level and they will have to suspend their working committees.
5) Right from grassroots level to top, there would be offices of Hurriyat Conference every where. In these offices the members would be elected from different parties.
6) The members of central committee would be elected from the suspended working committees of individual parties.
