Vienna University honours Kashmir University VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir (KU), Professor Riyaz Punjabi has been nominated for the title of "Honorary Professor of the International University, Vienna" for his contribution in “strengthening international relations in the sphere of education” a KU spokesman said Friday.

He said a media release from Europe Business Assembly (EBA) in Oxford, London informed that Professor Wil Goodheer, Rector of the International University, Vienna and President of the Club of the Rectors of Europe and Lord John Netting, Director General, Europe Business Assembly (EBA), United Kingdom have nominated Punjabi for the title.

The decision has been taken on the initiative and the support of the government, independent institutions and enterprises, public organizations, outstanding scientists and specialists.

"The decision of nominating Dr. Punjabi symbolises the highest degree of International recommendation of achievements in professional activities," the EBA press release says.

The title is conferred for contribution in strengthening international relations in the sphere of science and education.

The EBA has invited Punjabi to attend "International Socrates Award Ceremony" from March 16 to 18 being held at Town Hall in the centre of world academia at Oxford.

The title will be awarded to Punjabi in XLII gala award ceremony, of the ceremony on March 17.
