Only 5% road connectivity in Kashmir CM's home district
Jammu, Tuesday, February 27, 2008:
Chief Minister of Indian administered Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad Tuesday said that his home district – Doda had only 5 per cent road connectivity.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of the mini secretariat here today, Azad said that a committee constituted by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for an economic package for roads, had found that the erstwhile districts of Doda and Udhampur had only 5 per cent and 11 per cent road connectivity respectively.
Azad said development and progress did not travel where there were no roads and added that being so, the two districts were divided into five to speed up the development process.
